Now that we have had our first day of cooking, I wanted to provide a spot where we could share some of the food and smoothie recipes that we liked.
Tonight we made a Warm Apple Smoothie that was absolutely delicious.
For two people:
4 Apples
cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves
About a cup of almond milk
Walnuts
Flax seeds
1-2 dates
protein powder (optional)
Slice apple and put in saucepan with almond milk. Add spices, then slowly cook until apples are soft. Once soft, put in blender with the rest of the ingredients. Add more almond milk if it is too thick for your liking. YUM.
This sounds delicious!!
ReplyDeleteI made some quinoa and stir fried some onions and garlic in olive olive and black pepper and lightly cooked a bunch of spinach. It was really tasty. I have leftover quinoa so I am going to throw it in the blender with my fruit in the morning and see how that goes.
ReplyDeleteThe warm apple smoothie looks great, Adrian. Thanks

I made the butternut squash bisque. I found the recipe on page 65 on the cleanse blog meal plan.
ReplyDelete1 butternut squash peeled and the seeds removed. Cut into small chunks and place in roaster pan or on baking sheet with small amt of olive oil and cumin and sea salt. Bake at 450 for about 30-45 mins until softened. Once cool place in food processor or blender and add in almond or rice milk (start with 1.5 cups) and adjust for your desired consistency. I added 2 cups of almond milk and 1.5 cups of water and more cumin and black pepper. It also suggested adding sage.
It was delicious!!!

ReplyDeleteI love the recipe for this happy shake from this website!
P.S. Just made the warm apple smoothie, LOVE IT!
Ideas for roasting chickpeas!
ReplyDeletePre-heat oven to 450*
Rinse and dry chickpeas well
Take off skins if you want
Toss chickpeas with olive oil
Put on a cookie sheet on tinfoil or parchment paper
Roast for 30--60 mins --Toss every 15 mins. (Taste at different times to see what your preference is--the longer it cooks, the crunchier it is.)
Put spices on or just eat--I like a little sea salt. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteWe had an incredible lunch today! If you are eating organic meat, I highly recommend this!!
I made Mango Chicken with Tamari and cayenne pepper (to taste) instead of soy and crushed red pepper. We had broccoli with salt and lemon juice, black rice (delish!), and baked chickpeas! We had some leftover Salmon so broiled that too and had a couple of bites each. Rodg put olive oil, fresh tarragon, garlic powder and thinly sliced lemons on it!! Then we had a bowl of berries with Chef's pudding heated in the microwave! I feel FULLY satisfied! Sooooo good!! xoxo Liz
This is amazing! Tastes like a warm apple pie. Such a good dinner on a cold night. I made almond milk this morning and used that, and I really enjoyed it.
